Alexander Gent

President

Alex is one of the founding members of his local Muslim network within West Yorkshire Police. He has been involved with NAMP since 2016 and In 2020 he was elected as chair of NAMP.


Alex has experienced Islamophobia personally and has also supported other Muslims facing similar issues. He realised there is a need for change and has worked on tackling discrimination and raising cultural awareness for many years.


Alex works closely with the Muslim community and stakeholders, such as the Home Office, the National Police Chiefs Council and the College of Policing. He has produced guidance documents, training packages and research papers relating to Muslims in policing.


Alex has a background in computer forensics and digital investigations. Most of his career has been spent working within Counter Terrorism Policing.
